As in all Donald Ross courses, Asheville Municipal Golf Course was designed to be challenging as well as fun. The greens play firm and fast and will test the skill of all golfers. The front nine is a flat, wide open layout that allows the use of the driver on most holes. The back nine is wooded, has more elevation changes and requires the correct choice of club to be successful.
